How CoPatterns works

From a message export to a summary you can hand your attorney, in about five minutes.

What CoPatterns is

CoPatterns turns your OurFamilyWizard message history into a calm, searchable record. It reads the report you export, organizes every message, and surfaces the patterns that matter in a custody case: what the recurring conflicts are, which messages contain hostile language, and how each parent actually responds. Everything it shows links back to the exact messages behind it, so you can always verify the original.

Step 1: Get your report in

In OurFamilyWizard, export a Message Report as a PDF (in OFW, look under Messages for the report or download option; choose the date range you want). Then sign in to CoPatterns and click Upload PDF.

Reading the PDF takes about a minute. After that, the analysis runs on its own: you will see a progress strip on the Overview ticking through steps like “Summarizing messages” and “Reviewing language”. The whole thing usually finishes within three or four minutes, and each page fills in as its step completes. You do not need to do anything; you can watch, or come back.

Step 2: Start with the Overview

The Overview is a briefing, and What stands out is the place to start: a few plain sentences the analysis computed from your record, like which concern spans the most messages or how differently each parent opens messages. Every sentence has a see evidence link that takes you to exactly the messages behind it.

Below that: how many messages were flagged, the recurring concerns, recent flagged quotes, and how quickly each parent opens the other's messages.

The pages, in one line each

Messages is the full record: search anything, filter to flagged messages or one sender, and click any message to read it in full. Inside a message, the arrows (or your arrow keys) walk you through the list you came from, which is the fastest way to review every flagged message in one sitting.

Themes groups the conversation into recurring topics, sized and dated, so you can see what the conflict is actually about and when it flared.

Parties lists every person, school, clinic, and business mentioned, with links to where they appear.

Read & Reply shows how long messages waited to be opened and answered. It uses medians: the middle value, so one extreme delay doesn't distort the picture.

Compliance holds filed checks: repeatable tests of a specific obligation, like “weekly update sent by Sunday 6pm”, with results cited to messages. Checks are filed by your CoPatterns assistant; ask it in plain words.

Case Brief is the take-away: a printable summary of everything above, with every flagged message cited by number and date. One button prints it or saves it as a PDF for your attorney.

What severity means

Flagged messages carry a severity: high, medium, or low, shown from dark to pale. It measures how strongly the language matches known hostility patterns, and it is assigned by automated analysis for your review. It is not a legal finding, and CoPatterns never presents it as one; always read the cited message itself before relying on it. The small ⓘ icons around the app give you these definitions wherever you need them.

Privacy, in practice

Hide names (bottom of the sidebar) blurs names and message text on screen, for screen-sharing with an attorney or working in public. The Case Brief prints real names on purpose: it is your own record, prepared for your attorney.

Deleting a report (from the report picker at the top) removes the uploaded PDF and everything derived from it, permanently. The full data-handling picture is on the Privacy & data page.

Your account

The account menu (your email, bottom of the sidebar) shows your plan and monthly usage, your account activity log, and API keys. A key lets an assistant read your reports on your behalf; its secret is shown once when created, and you can revoke it any time.

If something looks wrong

Everything shows zero right after upload: the analysis is still running; watch the progress strip on the Overview. “Can't reach CoPatterns right now”: a connection hiccup, your reports are safe; try again in a moment. The report content looks off: re-export the Message Report from OurFamilyWizard and upload again; exports occasionally cut off mid-range.

Anything else: copatterns.support@gmail.com. Include the report name and roughly when it happened; never include message content in email.
